It has been claimed that Apple plans to use screens designed by itself on mobile devices such as iPhone and Apple Watch from 2024. It is said that the technology giant will take such a step in order to reduce its dependence on partners with whom it cooperates on screen, such as Samsung and LG. Allegedly, the transition will start with an Apple Watch product that will use microLED display technology.

Apple may soon use its own display in its products. Because, according to Bloomberg’s report, Apple plans to use special screens designed in-house on mobile devices such as iPhone and Apple Watch from 2024. It seems that Apple’s switch to its own screens will help it be less dependent on its screen partners, consisting of Samsung and LG.

FIRST STEP WITH APPLE WATCH

It is claimed that Apple is already testing microLED displays for the Apple Watch. Allegedly, microLED display technology will bring brighter and more vivid colors and improved viewing angles to the device. Bloomberg claims that the screens “make the content look like it’s been painted on glass.”

For example, Apple makes its own A-series and M-series chips for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. It is also said to work on its own modem chips and other wireless chips. Thus, it is stated that the company may terminate its relations with suppliers such as Qualcomm and Broadcom.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is making an effort to make more of its own components for iPhones, iPads and Macs so the Cupertino tech giant doesn’t need to work with multiple third-party component suppliers.

Allegedly, Apple will take the first step in this regard with the Apple Watch Ultra, which will be released at the end of 2024. This device will use microLED display technology. After introducing the microLED display using the Apple Watch, Apple will expand them to the “iPhone” and other devices. The displays will likely be manufactured by an outside supplier, but designed by Apple.
