The news that will make Apple happy came from the Far East. Allegedly, TSMC, one of Apple’s largest suppliers, will begin mass production of 3nm chips this week. While it is claimed that Apple will be the primary customer, it is thought that the technology giant can use the new production process in the M2 Pro chip. The M2 Pro chip is expected to power the new MacBook Pro and Mac mini models.

While Apple is thought to be working on the design and features of the iPhone 15, a news about the chip supplier TSMC drew attention. The news from the Far East made a sound on the technology agenda. This news is thought to make Apple happy.

In the news of DigiTimes, citing industry sources, it is stated that the production of chips from the 3nm production process is unlikely to increase until production of the improved version begins.

According to another report, the third-generation Apple Silicon, the M3 chip and the A17 Bionic, which is expected to be used in the iPhone 15, will be based on TSMC’s advanced 3nm manufacturing process, which has not yet been made available.

The M2 Pro chip is expected to appear first in the updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros. It could possibly be included in the updated Mac Studio and Mac mini models as well.

Apple uses TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process in the A16 Bionic chip in the iPhone 14 Pro series. However, it is suggested that the tech giant may switch to 3nm early next year. A report in August claimed that the M2 Pro chips would be the first chips based on the 3nm manufacturing process.

According to the report, TSMC is scheduled to hold a ceremony on December 29 at the Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) to celebrate the start of commercial production of chips using 3nm manufacturing process technology.
