NASA has officially retired the Mars probe InSight. InSight, which NASA sent to Mars in 2018, has thus come to the end of its mission. InSight, on the other hand, made its fans sad with the farewell message shared on the Twitter account opened on its behalf in the past days. “I’m really low on energy, so this might be the last photo I can send. Don’t worry about me,” InSight said in that message.

“I’m really low on energy… This may be the last image I can send… Don’t worry about me…” These words are from NASA’s InSight, which landed on Mars in 2018. InSight included these words in his farewell message, which he shared on his Twitter account, and reported that his energy was decreasing. NASA’s InSight mission has ended after more than four years on Mars.

InSight

The last image sent by InSight showed the dome-shaped seismometer and the dust-covered Martian floor.

“My energy is really low, so this might be the last image I can send. Don’t worry about me though. My time here has been both productive and quiet. If I can keep talking to my mission team, I’ll do that. But I’ll be leaving soon. Thanks for being with me.”

The farewell message that InSight shared on his Twitter account, which was opened on his behalf, was exactly as follows;

NASA had previously decided to declare the mission over if the vehicle missed two communication attempts. However, announcing the date that InSight last communicated with Earth as December 15, NASA said that it will continue to listen to a signal from InSight, just in case, but it is unlikely to hear from it at this point.

Mission controllers at the agency’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Southern California were unable to communicate with InSight after two consecutive attempts, leading them to conclude that the spacecraft’s solar-powered batteries were dead.
